Horror video games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and F.E.A.R have been around for decades, scaring video games off of their chairs and into their blankets.
However, with the more recent titles, the genre has taken a more eerie turn as now, most horror titles focus on poltergeists, spirits, ghouls, etc. As impressive as these games are, they can get somewhat monotonous due to their single-player, linear gameplay style where all you can do is run away from whatever is chasing you. It can get boring, but that all changed with the release of a brand-new horror video game by Kinetic Games called Phasmophobia.
Here, the roles have reversed. To some extent, as in Phasmophobia, you are a member of paranormal investigators who take on paranormal cases to investigate and figure out what is happening in various haunted locations. You have to gather evidence, seek out the entity, and call out a ghost removal team once all of this is done. Sounds interesting, right? Well, it gets better.
Remember, we told you that you play as a member of a team of paranormal investigators? So, who are the other investigators? That’s the bit that makes this game so much fun. They are your friends. Yes, you heard that right. This horror game is a co-op where you, along with your three other friends, team up to hunt and catch various spirits and ghosts roaming about.
And before we end this review, we would like to add just one more thing. Remember, the spirits your hunting in this game are listening. So be careful of what you say, especially when calling out their names.
